Be Brave.

NICA and the Boise Brave Mountain Bike Team are guided by values of inclusivity, equity, respect and community. We stand with all who share these values and do not tolerate racism, hate or discrimination. We will continue our work toward inclusivity, equity and diversity.

We Have a New BBMTB Head Coach!

On behalf of the Head Coach search committee, we’d like to announce that we have selected our next Head Coach of the Boise Brave Mountain Bike Team.
Welcome, Rob Beard!  Rob is a local cyclist, business leader and father. After a thorough, inclusive search and interview process that started late last year, it is clear that he is the best fit to help lead our team into the next chapter, starting with the 2021 Season.

In addition to the Head Coach search committee, we were joined by several of our incoming 2021 Student Leaders in the final selection process. The committee was very impressed and proud of these student-athletes for asking excellent questions and sharing their perspectives of what they want in a Head Coach and for their Boise Brave Team.
Thank you to the Head Coach search committee; Lance Davisson, Ray Anderson, Brad Koeckeritz, Mike diVittorio & Mike Baughman, for readily stepping up and working alongside our Team Director, Carolyn Park, to find the best fit for our Team. Countless hours were spent creating a solid process, strategizing and interviewing our candidates. We couldn’t be more excited to get the season started with this Team!
BBMTB Leadership is currently building our platform for the 2021 season to move forward within the Idaho Interscholastic Cycling League, and National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA) under the leadership of a new Head Coach and our current Team Director, Carolyn Park.

Welcome to the 2021 Season!
A Message From Your Team Director

With April comes big and welcome news for the 2021 Boise Brave Mountain Bike Team season. As noted in a previous email, we’ve welcomed Rob Beard, our new Head Coach to the team. While only days into his new role, Rob has already brought some new ideas and enthusiasm and joins all of us in being eager to get things started. Read more from Rob in the Coaches Corner section of this Newsletter.

In addition to a new head coach, April 1st marked the official opening of the NICA PitZone where student-athlete’s can register and pay their League Membership. We invited 113 returning student-athletes from our 2020 BBMTB Team to register for the season and have begun a waitlist to fill our Team to a capacity of 125 members.

League membership is required to participate in pre-season activities, team practices; as well as, summer day camps. Registration for races will remain closed until the Idaho League announces which race format (they have 3 formats fully developed and ready to launch) we will proceed with this fall. They are doing this so that each of you can make an informed decision whether or not to register for the race series. An announcement will be made and race series registration opened on July 1st.

If you have any questions about Idaho League Fees, refer back to the IDAHO LEAGUE ANNOUNCEMENT that was sent earlier this week. The following questions are all answered for you. What can I register for at this time? How much is the league membership fee? What the membership fee does and does not include? What is this money used for? Are these fees refundable? Is there financial assistance available? How do I register?

The Boise Brave MTBike Team registration date is coming – DATE TO BE ANNOUNCED! We are actively working with our new Team Leadership to set our Calendar of Events for the 2021 Season. Once our calendar is approved, our schedule will be published on TeamSnap.

TeamSnap is a unique way to manage your sports team on the web or our mobile apps. Anyone who has managed or played on a recreational sports team knows how hard it can be to keep track of all the members, events, and payments. TeamSnap takes the headache out of organizing by making it simple to manage your team or group.

Happy Trails + Be Safe.

Carolyn Park, Team Director
Boise Brave Mountain Bike Team

We are close to having 65 licensed Coaches; with a few more invited in the NICA PitZone, but we could always use more to help manage 125+ Student-Athletes. If you are new to the Team, this is a great way to get to know us, experience hands-on how we run our Team and do it all alongside your child – although typically we don’t Coach our own!  I know I talked to quite a few new parents at the registration kickoff that were interested, but I may not have captured your name. It’s not too late – send me an email today! In 6 simple steps you will complete your Level 1 licensing! The Idaho League is covering the coach licensing fee this season! Be brave and sign up today!
